We Asked

We asked for views on our draft Strategic Plan 2016-19, using a survey to find out what you think about our proposed Outcomes, Priorities and Objectives for the service and invited general comments on the plan as a whole.

We received 123 responses, comprising 54 from partner organisations, 51 responses from our staff and 18 from individual members of the public.

We also held discussions with a range of national groups who represent people from across our diverse communities.

You Said

Partner organisations liked the clarity and logic of the plan’s design, and welcomed the strong focus on joint working and local partnerships in keeping with meeting the requirements of the Community Empowerment Act. They felt the elements of the plan were well-balanced and interlinked appropriately, and welcomed relevance to Scottish Government’s National Outcomes and the Christie Commission report.   There were several positive comments about the relationship between national and local imperatives. Service colleagues largely supported the ambitions of the Strategic Plan. You can view all the responses here.

We Did

Taking all of the comments into account, we made changes to the text to provide further clarification or emphasis where requested.

Several key areas of interest emerged which do not directly impact on the design and content of the Strategic Plan, but they emphasise the importance of our work in relation to:

  • the Retained Duty System and rural service provision
  • youth engagement and investing in the next generation
  • working with communities
  • environment and sustainability

We will take these into account as we develop the action plans which support the Strategic Plan 2016-19.
